opinions please and a NSV

My brother is getting married this summer, it is going to be a pretty casual beach wedding. I bought two dresses on sale when I was in Arizona this winter, they were both a little tight but now are fitting pretty good. I think by the time the wedding is here they will be fitting great. I just want to know which one you like better and/or which you think flatters me more?? I would wear a cardigan over them both but if it is really warm I want to be able to take it off and feel comfortable. As a special treat my darling pup makes a guest appearance in the second picture. **i am adding a second picture of the second dress - I think the first one doesnt show it off the best**

On to my NSV.. I went to Victoria today to meet a friend who was flying in for the day for a wedding dress fitting. After the dress fitting we hit the malls for an afternoon of shopping. I tried clothes on in stores I have not shopped in since high school and all had clothes that fit me!! I am smaller on top than the bottom so XLs in stores like The Gap, Eddie Bauer, Banana Republic, RW&Co fit me great! I even fit bottoms in most of those stores as well. I work in a clothing store so I have a pretty good wardrobe but it was an amazing feeling to be able to try on clothes with my girlfriend and to be able to reject items because of colour or fabric - 60 lbs ago I would buy whatever fit just because it was hard to find things that fit. We had such a great time! I am definitely smaller than Christmas - especially in the bottom half of my body. I tried on size 16s in the Gap in December and they were too small - today they all fit. Made me feel so much better about my lack of success on the scale.

I had another NSV this weekend. I was standing on on of the small planters DH built in the back yard and he ran over, picked me up around my thighs and twirled me around the yard, and held me up there for awhile! His back didn't break, he didn't fall down in pain, in fact he was not even winded.. he has not done that since we were teenagers (used to toss me over his shoulder!).

These little things remind me everyday of how far I have come and how I WILL NEVER go back to the way things were!

I'm so happy for you, Blendergirl! I think you are doing so great! *sniffle*

Both of the dresses are super cute. Either would be perfect. Maybe I like the first one on you better? It's hard to pick! :)

Both dresses are really cute but I think that the first one is most flattering.

YAY for you! I hate the scale not moving...I've been stuck hovering like 3 freggin' punds over being in the 100s for two months now, but it rocks when you can tell that clothes are fitting better! PERSEVERE Blendergirl the scale will catch up one day! I like both dresses, but i like the one with the yellow best! :)

I'm having a hard time deciding btw. the two. At first glance I thought that the first dress looked a bit more dated than the 2nd, but seemed a bit more flattering. But maybe because you are pulling the sides of the 2nd dress out? I can't help but be drawn to the 2nd dress because it's just so full of color and life! Maybe I'm a little biased because I wore a dress last summer to a wedding that was black/yellow/white, and same length, black straps, so I'm drawn to that one. lol.

Congrats on the NSV! I like the top dress better. You look smaller in that one. :-)

Great NSV's!!! You are awesome!

Now, I am an honest person when it comes to giving my opinion, I must say this is a tough one.
At first glance I like the second one better but after really looking at it, I think the first one fits you better. Either one you are going to look smokin hot!!

i love both dresses (HOW CUTE!!) but what are their colours if any? even a casual beach wedding has some format..maybe ask the bride to be?

congrats on the clothes too!! I got to have that feeling at march break in florida..went to a gap outlet and for fun i tried on a gap xxl shirt and 18..figured they wouldnt fit..they were too big!!! the 16s were too small but um..i bought em anyway ;)

YAY YOU!!

You look absolutely incredible! I love both dresses but really love how the first one looks on you. Maybe if they have a rehearsal dinner the night before you could wear the second one to that and the first one to the actual wedding? Either way, you look beautiful in both!

Excellent NSVs! I'm starting to shop in 'regular' stores, too. Love it!

I really like the first dress. The neckline is flattering, and the waistband and draping of the skirt skirt both shape you extra nicely and lengthen you. I like the classic pattern, too. Perfect for a wedding.

Either way you'll be looking really good!

Both dresses are super cute, but the first one is more flattering with the v-neckline and the way it cinches you at the waist. It's also more suitable than the 2nd one for a little jacket over top if you do decide to wear one. The 2nd one looks a bit more casual - even for a casual wedding. The color on it is really cute though.
